Based on the Victorian Energy Efficiency Upgrade Scheme register, these are the most energy-efficient heat pump water heaters. These results are based on certified testing lab results to  Australian Standard for testing AS/NZS 4234.   

Midea, Emerald Planet, and Ecogenica heat pumps offer exceptional energy savings of over 80%. These brands feature Wi-Fi energy monitoring and solid solar integration capabilities. On the other hand, high-end brands such as Dux perform poorly in comparison, achieving less than 74% energy savings. The priciest brands, including Reclaim and Sandens, also fall short of 80% energy savings, relying on circulation pumps and heat exchangers, which can be problematic and prone to premature replacement.
